Workshop of Pentecost, 2025

Arturo Mora, Manises (Spain)

Lustreware

The technique of Lustreware, originating from Persia, has existed since the 9th century. It was perfected in Manises (Spain). By applying a metallic glaze to ceramics to create a shiny surface, light reflects and reveals varying color nuances. This technique is still used today in contemporary ceramics.

Arturo Mora Benavent, a descendant of a family of ceramists from Manises, has inherited this tradition. Arturo has received numerous awards for his outstanding work in this field. His great-great-grandfather, in the 19th century, was the first in the family to specialize in golden earthenware. During the workshop, Arturo will share the secrets of this exceptional and unique heritage, which we will put into practice.
